One of the newest casinos on the block, launched in 2017, Highroller, with its big-city setting, is quite unlike any other gaming site around. Brought to you by Betit/GIG group, the trusted name behind other sites such as Thrills, Superlenny and Rizk, Highroller likes to call itself more than an online casino. So strap yourself in as I check them out in the review. Welcome to the jungle!
Living in the city
The first thing you’ll notice about the site is the brilliant comic strip style site design. Highroller is all about its ambitious theme, as you enter the animated gaming world of Metrocity.
Once signed up, your character is created with a username and avatar. You can quickly customise your avatar with various hats, hairstyles, sunglasses and more. If you want a mauve moustache, hey you’ve got it!
Everything is beautifully presented. Combining a modern, stylish presentation with a distinctly retro feel. Graphics are well drawn and icons are sharp.
Landing on the home page, you’re presented with the news from your current Metrocity district’s Gazette. Here you’ll find game suggestions, info on what’s happening on-site, a live-news game-play ticker and more.
Coins equal rewards
As you soon as you start playing Highroller’s huge selection of games, you’ll be on the way to earning various rewards. Each time you level up and access new districts of Metrocity, you’ll receive a reward.
All the districts contain bonuses such as bonus spins, collectables and cash. You can access them in the rewards menu on your homepage. Just click on the completed level/district’s card and then tear open the mystery packet.
Once opened it reveals its contents of cards that show info on that level, a stack of Metrocity coins and your bonus reward. For some reason, a pigeon also makes an appearance!
So what’s the deal with those coins? Well, they are an essential part of Highroller journey. Every day as a resident of Metrocity you get your allowance of shiny gold coins. As mentioned, each time you level up, more coins are added to haul.
Loot other’s loot
The Sting game is where things get very interesting. Here you have the opportunity to loot coins from other Highroller players!
Once unlocked in Rewards, you click on the Sting game and you’re presented with four player’s cards. These are all currently inactive members of the site. The cards show their name and the number of coins up for grabs in the game.
To play, you simply click to shuffle the cards, then choose one. Whichever you reveal, their coins now join your stack.
The more you login and play, the greater the number of Sting games you can earn, adding to your coins every day. Think of it like Grand Theft Auto. . . Well, without the automobile bit!
Once you’ve accumulated a crates’ worth of coins, you can head off to the Highroller shop. Located on the home page, you can exchange coins for free spins.
Building up your coin stash means you can buy a greater number and value of spins. So it’s well worth saving them up. Also, what’s cool is all winnings from your free spins are completely wager free!
Quality bonus package on offer
Now to get you going on your character’s journey. Highroller are offering players from the United Kingdom a generous welcome bonus offer of 100% deposit match up to £100, with the minimum deposit being £10. This bonus has a 45x wagering requirement, which needs to be completed within 30 days.
Similar to other casinos, there are a few key terms to be aware of. Certain games contribute less than others to the rollover. There are the usual slot suspects with reduced wagering weighting such as BloodSuckers and Simsalabin. Plus, other titles like Castle Builder and Super Monopoly Money which contribute zero. The full details are available in the bonus terms.
While playing with the bonus, the maximum bet size is £5. That includes any double up type of wagers in say Blackjack.
Added to the bonus mix are 50 extra spins on various slot titles, spread across your first five days. Any winnings from these spins need to be wagered 35 times before withdrawal. The same bonus terms apply.
Overall, this is a solid package. With the extra site rewards and bonus games, you’re sure to get plenty of play.
Navigating the city
Finding your way around the site is really easy. The left-hand panel show’s your character’s username and avatar. Below that is your current money balance together a handy cash top-up icon. Then you’ve current coin total and a quick link to the shop. Under that is the all-important games menu button.
Games are presented in the large tiled format, with each menu having its own social media style hashtag.
If you want to try a title, most games can be checked out in demo mode before parting with cash.
Slots of choice
There’s plenty of gaming options when it comes getting into the action. Highroller have partnered up with the best in business when it comes to slots. So you’ll find the latest and greatest titles from developers such as NetEnt, Microgaming/Quickspin, Big Time Gaming, IGT, Blueprint, Yggdrasil, Red Tiger and many more. With over 750 titles on tap, it means you can play big favourites like Bonanza and Gonzo’s Quest or check out loads of new titles from a wide choice.
All the usual card and table games are available, with plenty of variations of Blackjack and Roulette. Plus, Poker games, Baccarat and more.
I couldn’t find any specific game RTPs or information, so I hope they’ll consider adding them to the site.
Live casino – minor tech issue
The live dealer casino is a mixture of providers in NetEnt and Evolution Gaming. There are no branded tables on offer, however, there’s a good selection of low and high limit tables. I ran into a peculiar issue trying to access Evolution’s BlackJack and Poker tables on my PC. I was able to load up a table but had no sound or graphics. What’s strange was Roulette worked absolutely fine. I tried several browsers, even another PC. I was stumped and, although they tried, support didn’t have an instant answer.
Anyway, I decided to double check on mobile and tablet, using IOS and Chrome. Thankfully, I could access and play all live casino tables with no issues. So I’m not sure what the desktop problem was. Hopefully, they manage to iron that one out.
Rollin’ on the move
While there are no dedicated apps at the moment HighRoller mobile experience is one of the best you’ll find the web. Designed with mobile in mind, out of the box the site loads fast in your mobile browser.
Apart from the occasional orientation issue when flipping from portrait to landscape mode, everything works just as it should. The mobile experience on Android and Apple IOS carries straight on from your desktop. The HighRoller team have clearly put in a stack of effort into making it the best around.
The game selection is a little smaller at 500+ titles, however, you’re not going to be short of gaming choice when you’re on the move or kicking back on the sofa.
Take that to the bank
Banking options are a somewhat limited compared to elsewhere. Like sister site Thrills, Skrill and Neteller are not available options. I tend to use my Visa debit card, so not an issue for me, but it may be a miss for some.
Other payment methods for UK customers are Mastercard, Trustly and Paysafe. A big positive, is there are no banking fees for deposits or withdrawals. Highroller aims to pay within 24 hours, so they’ll be no endless waiting around for your withdrawal to hit your account. Good news.
Support with a pedigree
Site security is the best in the business, utilising 256-bit encryption across the entire site. On top of that Highroller is regulated by the United Kingdom Gambling Commission and the Malta Gaming Authority.
Customer Support is mainly through live chat, which is available 24/7. If you prefer you can drop them an email with your query. Their FAQs section is pretty good and is sure to answer most questions about the site’s various features and rewards.
Plus, Highroller comes from the Betit/GIG team who’ve over a decade’s industry experience in producing top-notch gaming sites. So you know you’re in excellent hands here.
With a great mash-up of casino gaming and player interactive features, Highroller is a winning combination. The concept of being able to pinch other player’s coins is both unique and rather amusing. The whole Metrocity backdrop blends perfectly with casino gameplay. Plus, the welcome bonus offer for UK customers is both generous and fair.
With daily coins up for grabs and plenty of ongoing rewards as progress, there’re tons of incentives to keep coming back to the site to play.
Any niggles such as I encountered are relatively minor. I’m interested to see how the casino develops as the site is still comparatively young.
I’d like to see something such as slot tournaments that pit player vs player to win coins or similar. I think there’s plenty of scope for even more on-site innovation and promotions.
So whether you roll high or low, Highroller casino rates as recommended. With a good chance of being uplifted to highly recommended once it’s fully established. Make sure you check them out here today.
